Booster is a brisk, spicy aromatic for men from Lacoste Fragrances, released in 1996. People describe it as spicy and woody first; most also find it aromatic and citrusy, and a minority call it green or fresh.

The opening is bracing: peppermint and eucalyptus give a cool, almost medicinal blast of freshness, with orange and grapefruit adding citrus brightness beside them. The heart warms up considerably. Chilli pepper and nutmeg bring a dry, glowing heat, basil and lavender a clean herbal note, and galbanum a sharp, resinous greenness that links the fresh opening to the warmer middle. The base is a classic trio of sandalwood, cedar and vetiver, giving a dry, smooth, slightly earthy wood that lasts once the mint has gone.

It is an energetic daytime scent, well suited to sport, cool mornings and the transition seasons, and it reads as invigorating rather than seductive. Men who like minty, spicy fougères from the nineties will recognise its style immediately.
