Grapefruit, clementine and bitter orange open it with a bright, slightly bitter burst of peel rather than sweet juice. Black pepper adds a dry heat that keeps the citrus from feeling soft, and violet gives the middle a brief powdery, slightly green floral touch. The base is where the body is: cedar and sandalwood for dry and creamy woods, vetiver for earthy smokiness, and amber and musk to warm and smooth the finish.
