L'Eau Bleue d'Issey Pour Homme, composed by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud for Issey Miyake in 2004, is a green, herbal woody scent for men. Everyone who describes it calls it woody, a good share add spicy, green, aromatic and citrus, and a minority find a leathery edge.
It opens with lime, mandarin and lemongrass, a sharp, zesty citrus with a grassy, lemony bite, backed by rosemary and a dry orangewood note. The heart is crowded with aromatics: juniper and cypress give a resinous, coniferous coolness, lavender and nasturtium a herbal, peppery greenness, ginger, pink pepper and star anise a warm, slightly sweet spice, and May rose a soft floral thread. The base is dry and earthy, with Atlas cedar, patchouli and oakmoss over sandalwood, amber and ambrette for a faint musky warmth.
Wearers lean towards long lasting, with a large share calling it moderate, and sillage is moderate to strong. It is voted mainly for daytime and for spring and summer, making it a fresh, green scent for warm days with more depth than a plain citrus.
