Melon is the surprise: a cool, watery, slightly sweet freshness that is rare in a woody fragrance and gives the opening a lift. Honey thickens it with a golden, slightly animalic sweetness. Cambodian oud brings the depth, dark, resinous and faintly medicinal, but it is tempered rather than raw, and cedar adds a dry, clean, pencil-like woodiness beside it. Ambrette, or musk mallow, closes the scent with a soft, slightly nutty, skin-like musk that ties the fresh and dark sides together.
