Envy for Men, released by Gucci in 1998 and composed by Daniela Andrier, is spicy and woody, with a notable floral side and aromatic, ambery support. It is a warm, dense scent with tobacco and leather in the base.

The opening is busy and aromatic: lavender, coriander, ginger, cardamom and pepper give a spicy, herbal start, lightened by mandarin orange. The heart brings rose and carnation, the latter adding a clove-like spice, set on cedar and sandalwood. The base is deep and smoky, with tobacco, incense, leather and patchouli, rounded by vanilla and amber for warmth.

Many wearers find it long lasting, and close to half describe the trail as strong. It is voted for autumn and winter, and slightly more for night than day, which points to evenings out, dinners and colder months, when its spice and smoke can be appreciated without feeling heavy.
