La Fin Du Monde, from Etat Libre d'Orange in 2013, was composed by Quentin Bisch. Spice leads, with woods, musk and florals close behind and a touch of amber.
The notes are deliberately offbeat. Black pepper and pepper bring a sharp, dry spice, while gunpowder adds a smoky, slightly metallic edge. Popcorn and sesame give a warm, buttery, toasted note, and cumin and carrot seeds an earthy, slightly savoury warmth. Iris and freesia add a powdery, cool floral side, ambrette a soft musk, and sandalwood, vetiver and styrax a creamy, dry and resinous base.
Most wearers report moderate longevity, some weak, and a moderate to close sillage. It is voted for autumn and spring and is worn more by day than at night. It suits creative offices, casual days and anyone curious about unusual, conceptual scents that mix spice, smoke and buttery popcorn. It is worn by anyone.
