Coco Eau de Parfum from Chanel, released in 1984 and composed by Jacques Polge, is a spiced oriental floral. People describe it as floral first, spicy and gourmand for most, with amber warmth and a minority noting woody and citrus sides.

It opens with coriander and peach alongside mandarin, jasmine and Bulgarian rose, so the fruit and spice arrive together with the flowers. The heart deepens with rose, cloves, mimosa and orange blossom, a warm, clove-scented bouquet. The base is long and rich: opoponax and labdanum for resin, vanilla and tonka bean for sweetness, sandalwood for smoothness and a trace of civet for a soft animal warmth.

About half of wearers report long-lasting performance and a further third find it lasts all day, while most call the sillage strong. It is voted for winter and autumn and leans towards night. It suits evenings, cold weather and someone who likes an unapologetically rich scent.
