Off-Broadway, a 2021 release from Bond No 9, is woody and floral in equal measure: everyone who describes it uses both words, and about a third also find it spicy, sweet and musky. It is worn by anyone.

Grapefruit blossom and black currant give a tart, slightly bitter, green-fruity opening. Nutmeg adds a dry, warm spice. The heart pairs osmanthus, with its apricot and suede tones, and lily for a clean, slightly waxy floral lift. The base is dry and earthy: sandalwood for cream, vetiver for a smoky, rooty dryness, patchouli for depth, and musk to smooth the finish.

The osmanthus-and-vetiver pairing suits autumn and spring, daytime and evening alike, and it has a dry, understated character. It should appeal to anyone who likes apricot-toned florals with a woody, slightly green finish rather than sweetness.
