The spice comes from ginger, pink pepper and saffron, which together give a warm, slightly peppery and leathery opening. Sage adds a herbal, aromatic freshness that cuts through the heat, and magnolia contributes a clean, lemony floral tone. Beneath this sit cedar and Virginia cedar for dry, pencil-shaving woodiness, patchouli for earthiness, and tonka bean for a sweet, almond-like roundness.
