It opens with cypress and juniper, green and gin-like, sharpened by pink pepper and cardamom and softened by a surprising touch of cocoa, which adds a dry, bitter sweetness. The heart pairs fir, resinous and coniferous, with lavender for a clean herbal note and frankincense for dry, lemony smoke. The base is a stack of woods: cedar for dryness, sandalwood for creaminess, palo santo for a sweet, slightly medicinal smokiness, and patchouli for earth, with vanilla smoothing the edges.
