Nefertum, released in 2015 by the Italian house Alchimista, is chiefly woody, with evenly balanced touches of spice, sweetness and citrus.
The composition is compact and built around oud. Bergamot gives a short, fresh and lightly bitter citrus opening, which brightens the darker material to come. Saffron adds a warm, slightly leathery and honeyed spice, a classic partner for oud. At the core, agarwood, or oud, brings a smoky, resinous and slightly animalic woodiness, supported by cedar, which gives a dry, clean structure, and patchouli, which adds earthy depth. Vanilla softens the whole into a gentle, sweet finish that keeps the oud from feeling too austere.
This kind of saffron and oud profile suits autumn and winter, evenings and formal occasions. The name refers to the Egyptian god of perfume, and the scent fits people who enjoy dark, resinous woods with a soft sweetness. It is meant to be worn by anyone.
