Grenadille d'Afrique, made for Aedes de Venustas by Alberto Morillas in 2016, is green and woody in equal measure, with about half of those who describe it noticing musk, resin, herbs and citrus.

Bergamot and juniper open it with a fresh, gin-like brightness. Lavender adds a clean, aromatic herb, and white tea and tea a soft, slightly bitter, airy note. Violet brings a gentle, powdery green floral tone. The wood at the centre, blackwood, also known as African grenadilla, gives a dense, dry, dark timber. Vetiver adds an earthy, smoky root, labdanum a warm resin and musk a smooth, clean finish.

It is shared and can be worn by anyone. The green, tea-like freshness over dark wood makes it a calm, versatile scent for spring and autumn, work days and quiet evenings, suited to people who like understated, natural-feeling woods.
