The composition is small and clear. Saffron opens it with a warm, slightly leathery, metallic spice. Rose is the centre, doubled with Turkish rose for a richer, jammier, more velvety effect, and that is why the floral side dominates despite the name. Oud sits underneath, dry and faintly smoky but, as the title promises, kept in check rather than leading. Vanilla and amber close it with a soft, warm sweetness that rounds off the rose and oud and gives the dry-down its gentle character.
Longevity and sillage have not yet been reported. Rose, saffron and oud over vanilla is an autumn and winter pairing suited to evenings, and it should appeal to anyone who wants an approachable oud with the rose doing most of the talking. It is offered as a bottle without a stated volume.
