Nuit Feline by the Italian house The Merchant of Venice, released in 2024 and composed by Nanako Ogi, is a dark, spicy woody scent with an animalic streak. Everyone who describes it calls it woody; more than half also find it spicy, and a minority notice resinous, amber or leather sides.
Ginger, pink pepper and nutmeg give the opening a sharp, warming spice. Pine adds a resinous, green freshness that briefly lifts the start. Agarwood is the core, deep and slightly animalic, and it is reinforced by cypriol, which adds an earthy, smoky dryness. Frankincense brings a dry, church-like smoke, amyris a soft, creamy wood, and suede with animal notes gives the drydown a warm, skin-like, faintly feral finish that suits the name.
Nuit Feline is worn by anyone. Its darkness suits autumn and winter and evening wear, and it will appeal to someone comfortable with oud and a little animalic warmth.
