Voyage Secret

Voyage Secret from LPDO, released in 2020, is an amber fragrance in the warm, resinous sense: everyone who describes it calls it amber, most add woody, floral and resinous, and a third mention spice and sweetness.

The opening pairs raspberry, tart and a little jammy, with saffron, which brings a leathery, slightly medicinal warmth. Rose and geranium form the floral heart, the rose full and honeyed and the geranium adding a greener, more peppery edge. The base is where it lives longest: labdanum gives a rich, leathery amber, benzoin a soft vanilla-like sweetness, gurjun balsam a dry, woody resin, and agarwood, or oud, a dark, smoky depth. Sandalwood smooths the whole thing out.

It is worn by anyone. The saffron-rose-oud structure places it in the tradition of Middle Eastern inspired fragrances, and the warmth points to cold months and evening wear, for someone who likes a rich, resinous scent with a fruity lift at the start.
