Ta'weel

Ta'weel from Lattafa Perfumes, released in 2023, is a spicy woody fragrance that everyone describes with those two words, while about half also find it floral, aromatic, amber and citrus. It is a dry, slightly rugged scent rather than a sweet one.

The opening pairs bergamot with juniper, ginger and nutmeg: a bright citrus flash followed by a gin-like coolness and a warm, peppery tingle. The heart softens things with orange blossom, bringing a faintly honeyed floral tone, and lavender, which adds the clean herbal note of a classic barbershop fougère. The base is where it settles for the long run, with leather for a smoky, slightly animal depth, ambroxan for a mineral, salty warmth, patchouli for earth and vetiver for a dry, rooty finish.

It is a shared fragrance, worn by anyone, though its dryness leans towards people who like traditional masculine styles. The spice and leather make it a natural choice for autumn and winter, evenings and smart occasions, and it is less obvious for hot afternoons.
