Oriental Saffron

Oriental Saffron by the Polish house Bohoboco (2024) is a spicy fragrance by every account, with about half of wearers also calling it woody. A quarter find it sweet, and a minority musky, floral or resinous. The note list reads like a spice market.

Saffron leads with its leathery, faintly metallic warmth, and around it sit coriander, cardamom, ginger, cumin, cloves and anise, giving a blend that is warm, aromatic, slightly sweaty from the cumin and slightly liquorice-like from the anise. Turmeric adds an earthy, bitter edge. Honey brings a thick, animalic sweetness, and ylang-ylang a soft floral note. The base is built on agarwood and tamboti wood for a resinous, smoky woodiness, with patchouli adding earth, labdanum a dark resin, vanilla a soft sweetness and musk a warm, skin-like finish.

Oriental Saffron is a shared fragrance, worn by anyone. Spice of this density belongs to cold weather and evenings, and it should appeal to people who like bold, warm, slightly animalic scents.
